This is Spiritual Warfare
I need to say something today that I don't say lightly: I believe what so many moms are dealing with in their health right now is spiritual warfare.
Not in a dramatic, exaggerated way. In a very real, very practical way.
We wear busy like a badge of honor. We fill our calendars with our kids' practices and games and playdates, we try to keep up with what everyone else's family is doing, and somewhere in all of that, we stop showing up for ourselves. We're under-exercising or over-exercising. We're overeating some days and barely eating on others. We're not sleeping. We're exhausted, foggy, and our PMS has become something we just white-knuckle through every single month.
And then we snap at our kids. We yell when we didn't want to. We show up depleted for the people we love most — not because we don't love them enough, but because there's nothing left in the tank.
Here's what I want you to hear: no amount of HRT, no GLP-1, nothing you can inject or prescribe your way into, is going to fix a body that isn't being nourished, isn't sleeping, and is running on empty. Those tools can genuinely help — but they cannot do the whole job for you.
I know your labs came back normal. I know you don't feel like yourself. I know this didn't happen overnight — you've been eating the way you always have, the way that worked fine in your 30s, and now, past 35, it just... doesn't anymore. Sleep is worse. Your libido is gone. The weight won't move no matter what you try. You don't know if you're eating too little or if the weekend binges are undoing everything, and honestly, you're not even sure anymore what you're doing wrong.
You're not doing anything wrong. You just haven't been given the real picture.
Here's what I believe, all the way down: it is our duty — as moms, as women who love God — to take care of ourselves first, not out of vanity, but so we can actually show up. So we can nourish our kids instead of relying on the drive-thru three nights a week. So we can feed them well, teach them how to cook, teach them what a strong, healthy body actually looks like and why it matters — not for how they look, but so they can honor God with the body they've been given.
You cannot pour into your family from a body that's running on fumes. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's the whole foundation everything else stands on.
I'm getting ready to open the doors to Strong & Synced again soon — at a discount, for a limited time. Stay tuned!
